The report served as the basis for a series of articles that appeared in the Financial Times in early 2000. The articles held up the transactions approved by Bondar as examples of International Monetary Fund incompetence.
  
  A series of audits commissioned by the IMF in 2000 found that the NBU had indeed engaged in transactions to generate a falsely optimistic picture of its reserves, but the fund said it had detected no cases of misappropriation of funds.[...]

  Щодо фільму "Піар", то це цікава робота. Я б не назвав цей фільм документальним. Це більше нагадує пропаганду, фільм, метою якою є піар. Будь-який журналіст, який пише про (касетний) скандал, повинен послухати записи (Мельниченка), провести лінгвістичний аналіз розмов і порівняти їх з подіями 1999–2001-го років. Чарльз Кловер, очевидно, записів не слухав, або ж він не знає мови. Я бажаю йому успіхів, але якщо він захоче зробити документальний фільм, то спершу має вивчити українську і російську мову."

  Пітер Берн каже, що радив Кловеру послухати записи Мельниченка, які отримав у своє розпорядження Міжнародний інститут преси. За словами Берна, там є кілька тривалих розмов президента Кучми з народним депутатом Віктором Сусловом якраз про Чарльза Кловера і його публікації в "Файненшал Таймс". Кучма розпитував Суслова, чи не забагато інформації той передав про Нацбанк до британської газети. Американський журналіст каже, що йому дуже дивно, як після цього Кловер міг запросити Суслова на зйомки фільму "Піар" як експерта.

  No, looks like, no. The reporting Maidan gave was from a journalist in D.C. The website he cited as source *presently* does not have info on Lazarenko. In addition, the journalist mentioned unidentified other journalist who were present in court in person as source: "З поданого сторонами переліку свідків, як стверджують присутні на засіданні американські журналісти..."
  
  Finally, "Як передає кореспондент УНІАН, відповідаючи на запитання, чи є у цьому списку українські високопосадовці, С.ПАЙФЕР зазначив, що не бачив списків осіб, з якими хотів би зустрітися районний прокурор Сан-Франциско у справі П.ЛАЗАРЕНКА.", UNIAN reports.
  
  Pifer did not only see the decision of the Judge, but also he did not see the list of pepole the District Attorney would like o visit with!
  
  Finally, Pifer was on the press conference to encourge Ukraine's Government to participate in rebuilding and stabilizing Iraq: he was not there for the Lazarenko case.

  NEW YORK - A New York Times reporter "committed frequent acts of journalistic fraud," including stealing material from other newspapers, inventing quotes and lying about his whereabouts, according to an investigation conducted by the paper.
  
  The review found problems in at least 36 of the 73 articles written by Jayson Blair from the time he began receiving national reporting assignments in late October to his May 1 resignation. The Times described the episode as "a low point in the 152-year history of the newspaper." ...
